Requirements review
Buyer supplies vehicle year/make/model when useful, engine code, casting number or OE reference for identification only, combustion chamber notes, valve layout, mounting interface notes, drawings when available and packing unit. Mark unresolved chamber volume, injector seat or spark-plug seating questions as open. Separate cylinder-head gasket programs so they do not distort head pricing.
Supplier questions
Ask about production or remanufacturing scope, pressure-test method and results, casting-batch identification, machining revision, sample options, warranty scope and documentation tied to the specified head—not a generic family brochure. Request a supplier declaration that states whether valves, springs, retainers, studs or bolts are included.
Quote comparison
Separate unit cost, packing, freight, taxes, Incoterms and service costs. Keep bare heads, valve-included assemblies, CNC-ported heads and stud packages on distinct lines.
